Radio Cornwall strikes right note after gaining 23,000 listeners in year

´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Cornwall has gained 23,000 extra listeners over the last year and now has an average weekly audience of 170,000, the highest for the station in the last couple of years, according to figures released today.

The figures are from Rajar (Radio Joint Audience Research Ltd), an independent survey system which tracks radio listening for both ´óÏó´«Ã½ and commercial stations. The period measured was from 26 March to 24 June 2007.

Rajar's figures also reveal that almost a quarter (24.4%) of the adult radio listening population within the Radio Cornwall transmission area tune into Radio Cornwall each week, for an average of 14 hours and 45 minutes per week.

Daphne Skinnard, Deputy Editor of Radio Cornwall, says: "It's fantastic news and shows that we're really striking the right note with our listeners. Our staff really value our strong local relationships and it seems that our listeners feel the same way."
