- George Lamb takes over mid-morning show and Gideon Coe presents late evenings
Ìý
George Lamb is set to take over the mid-morning show on digital station ´óÏó´«Ã½ 6 Music from Monday 22 October 2007.
Ìý
He moves from his current evening show on 6 Music to present the mid-morning show (10am-1pm) featuring the best in new music, archive tracks and exclusive sessions recorded in the 6 Music Hub.
Ìý
George says: "I've really enjoyed the last few months at 6 Music and should be the happiest man alive, but the morning slot clashes with Homes Under the Hammer."
Ìý
Lesley Douglas, Controller, Radio 2 and 6 Music, says: "George has really impressed me both before he joined 6 Music, and since he got his feet under the table.
Ìý
"George has a rare combination of wit, warmth and passion for music, so I am delighted that he has agreed to launch this new show on ´óÏó´«Ã½ 6 Music. I am really proud of the talent who work with 6 Music like Stephen Merchant, Russell Brand and Russell Howard."
Ìý
George Lamb started at 6 Music in April 2007 joining recent signings Stephen Merchant, Shaun Keaveny and Guy Garvey and established station presenters Steve Lamacq and Marc Riley.
Ìý
In addition to his 6 Music show, George Lamb is also one of ´óÏó´«Ã½ television's leading new talents.
Ìý
Next week he hosts The Restaurant: You're Fried on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three, a spin-off show from ´óÏó´«Ã½ Two's The Restaurant in which Raymond Blanc puts nine couples through their paces to see if they have what it takes to run their own restaurant. Ìý
George will host a studio discussion with losing contestants, one of Raymond's "inspectors'', leading restaurateurs and members of the public. George is also a regular presenter on Channel 4 and E4 Music.
Ìý
Prior to his current career, George was an accomplished band manager responsible for launching the careers of Audio Bullys and Lily Allen.
Ìý
Gideon Coe is one of the key presenters on 6 Music. He has helped to build the success of the station through his love, knowledge and passion for music.
Ìý
He now takes that passion to the evenings (Monday to Thursday, 10pm-1am), cherry-picking headline performances and exclusive sessions from the ´óÏó´«Ã½ archives while playing the best new releases.
Ìý
Gideon says: "I'm looking forward to doing basically the same things – playing good records, keeping it brief and side-splittingly hilarious in-between and, most importantly, interacting with listeners. I'm looking forward to doing all that but 12 hours later than I'm used to. By my reckoning that's 12 more hours in bed though that might be a false economy."
Ìý
Lesley Douglas says: "Gideon Coe has been one of the pioneers of digital radio presentation, and remains one of the most influential on-air talents on 6 Music. The combination of archive and new music is at the heart of 6 Music, and there is no-one who can put that into context as deftly as Gideon.
Ìý
"There is a big potential to attract audience to digital radio at that time of night, and I believe that giving Gideon this new opportunity to put music into context will provide a compelling listen for the audience."
