大象传媒 celebrates launch of FM relay and new FM radio partnership with live broadcasts from Uganda


The 大象传媒 will broadcast its flagship interactive radio and online programme Africa Have Your Say live from Uganda over three days starting Tuesday 20 November. The live broadcasts celebrate the launch of 大象传媒 99.4 FM in Arua and an exciting new partnership with FM radio station Magic 100.

Ugandan-born Africa Have Your Say presenter, Alex Jakana, said: "The 大象传媒 has loyal listeners in Uganda so it's wonderful that we can reach yet more people in FM quality with our best programming.

"We know Africans like to debate with their neighbours across the continent which is why I am very excited to be broadcasting live from the country.

"I look forward to hearing them taking part in the 大象传媒's pan-African conversation."

大象传媒 99.4 FM brings Arua listeners some of the 大象传媒's most popular English-language programmes tailored specifically for Africa in FM quality sound for the first time.

They can enjoy Network Africa, which sets the day's agenda with a mix of news, sport, features and music, and Focus On Africa, with daily news and analysis from around the continent.

Listeners can also enjoy programming from the 大象传媒 Swahili service including its flagship morning programme Amka Na 大象传媒, news and current affairs programme Dira Ya Dunia, and a round-up of the big news stories from across the continent in Leo Afrika.

Magic 100 will be the first station in Uganda to broadcast 大象传媒 Ulimwengu Wa Soka which features live commentary on English Premier League matches in Swahili.

Solomon Mugera, Head of the 大象传媒 Swahili service, said: "Ugandans are famous for their love of football and we are delighted that listeners can now enjoy all the excitement of the English Premier League.

"There is a large Kiswahili speaking community in Arua and North West Uganda and we really look forward to connecting with audiences on FM to Idhaa ya Kiswahili ya 大象传媒 for the first time."

大象传媒 99.4 FM extends the 大象传媒's already strong presence on FM in Uganda which has 大象传媒 101.3 FM in Kampala and 大象传媒 107.3 FM in Mbarara and Mbale.

Africa Have Your Say will broadcast live from Uganda at 19.00 EAT on Tuesday 20 November, Wednesday 21 November and Thursday 22 November.
