LIPA Students in live 大象传媒 broadcast
Students from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) will get their first big break when they perform at a major event to be broadcast live on 16 December on 大象传媒 Three.
听
Liverpool Nativity is a contemporary retelling of the nativity story using the music from the city's great pop legacy.
听
Dance students at LIPA will play the security guards and courtiers of Herodia (Cathy Tyson), a paranoid minister desperate to cling to power in a fictional state.
听
The 28 students, who are taking part in the project as part of their curriculum, will perform live on television during three songs: Round And Round (by Dead or Alive), Bouncing Baby and Reward (both by The Teardrop Explodes).
听
People who would like to watch the event live can head down to William Brown Street in Liverpool City Centre.
听
From here, the students will be seen on big screens throughout the hour-long event.
听
In addition to appearing live on TV, they have also choreographed dance routines to entertain the crowd during the full hour.
听
Sue Judd, Executive Producer of Liverpool Nativity, has seen the rehearsals currently taking place: "The students' energy and their enthusiasm is gobsmacking!"
听
Giles Auckland-Lewis, Director of Higher Education at LIPA, says: "The students are ecstatic! Some of these students are only eight weeks into a one year course and already they're appearing in a live TV production. LIPA is very geared towards professional development, so we're delighted to be working with the 大象传媒 to offer them this experience."
听
In addition to the students who will appear live on screen during Liverpool Nativity, LIPA students are also involved in work behind the scenes, including production and sound management.
听
In preparation for the broadcast, they have assisted the 大象传媒 in recording the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at LIPA's studios.
听
Liverpool Nativity can be seen Sunday 16 December at 8pm on 大象传媒 Three.
听
Crowds who would like to watch the event live should head to William Brown Street, Liverpool, from 7pm.
