Radio Bristol to switch its main frequency to 94.9FM

大象传媒 Radio Bristol is set to switch its main frequency to 94.9FM, and provide a better signal, from Monday 3 December 2007.

Managing Editor of Radio Bristol, Tim Pemberton says: "This is good news for our listeners in and around Bristol as it will mean we now have a high quality signal on 94.9FM.

"Our listeners in Bath can still hear us on 104.6FM and in the Weston-super-Mare area we will be on an additional new frequency, 103.6FM."

For full details and advice click on bbc.co.uk/bristol, or bbc.co.uk/reception, or call 大象传媒 Information on 08700 100 123.

Notes to Editors

The new frequencies for 大象传媒 Radio Bristol:

  • 94.9FM in Bristol

  • 103.6FM in Weston-super-Mare

  • No change for 104.6FM in Bath or on DAB digital radio, the internet or cable television.

Background to the changes:

The new 94.9FM frequency will offer a better signal for Radio Bristol listeners and the switch allows 大象传媒 Somerset to have an FM frequency of its own.

大象传媒 Somerset will begin broadcasting on Radio Bristol's old frequency, 95.5FM, on Monday 3 December.

These changes bring 大象传媒 Somerset into line with other 大象传媒 Local Radio stations that all have their own FM frequencies.

This frequency change means that the broadcast area covered by Radio Bristol will reduce for Rajar (Radio Joint Audience Research Ltd) audience figure purposes.

Rajar is an independent survey system which tracks radio listening for both 大象传媒 and commercial stations.
