Matt Lucas and David Walliams visit the Ross sofa
Little Britain stars Matt Lucas and David Walliams talk about the day they stood up Madonna on tonight's Friday Night With Jonathan Ross on ´óÏó´«Ã½ One.
Ìý
Talking about their new Stateside show Little Britain USA, they reveal that one of their new characters is based on her PA.
Ìý
"We got invited out to dinner by Madonna once. The night came, and half-an-hour beforehand he called saying Madonna may or may not be coming to the dinner. We weren't going to just sit in this restaurant and wait for her so we didn't go," said David.
Ìý
David also reveals his nerves when he met Her Majesty The Queen after swimming the Channel for charity. "I was amazed at how nervous I was before I met The Queen. I had my telephone voice on. I said I raised £1million, I wanted to say 'make it £2million'. You have a terrible sense you're going to say the wrong thing.
Ìý
"Prince Philip didn't stop to speak to us, he just said 'is this the nut who swam the channel?' He said to my mother 'any more nuts in your family?'"
Ìý
Their new HBO series will include favourite characters in America – Vicki Pollard going to brat camp, Daffyd at university ("the only gay on the campus" – Matt) and Sebastian who has become Prime Minister and has a crush on the US President.
Ìý
"We wanted to approach a big Hollywood star to be the President. Brad Pitt? He's too young! He looks about 15," says David.
Ìý
Jonathan also welcomes to the show comedy legend Jerry Seinfeld and Academy award-winning Hollywood royalty Renee Zellweger.
Ìý
Jerry reveals that he will never return to Seinfeld: "You remember the good parts, you forget the painful parts, we had nine years, I think we had the best of it ... [but] I miss the contact with the audience, that energy."
Ìý
And he also hints he may return to stand-up in the UK: "I was thinking about performing here, it would be fun to come back."
Ìý
And as for Little Britain, he says: "Hilarious, I love those guys."
Ìý
The Four Poofs become the six sopranos when Matt and David join them to serenade another of this week's guests, award-winning Top Gear motormouth Jeremy Clarkson.
