大象传媒 Leicester Ruby Rainbow Appeal strikes gold
|
大象传媒 Radio Leicester has exceeded expectations and raised an incredible half a million pounds for its Ruby Rainbow Appeal.
听
All money will go towards the Rainbows Hospice in Loughborough for the proposed 拢4million extension which will offer respite and palliative care to teenagers and young adults throughout the East Midlands.
听
Englebert Humperdink launched the appeal in January of this year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Radio Leicester, having agreed to be the appeal's patron.
听
Fund-raising events have included a variety show held at De Montfort Hall and a charity dinner. And morning show presenters Tony Wadsworth and Julie Meyer spent a memorable night in an enclosure at Twycross Zoo!
听
Listeners to Radio Leicester have embraced the appeal offering support in daredevil sponsored activities with one 83-year-old woman signing up for a parachute jump.
听
Kate Squire, Managing Editor, Radio Leicester, is delighted: "We have been overwhelmed with the response from our listeners who have taken this appeal to their hearts and been so generous with their time and their money. We would like to thank them for their support."
听
She adds: "This has been a special anniversary year for Radio Leicester and it's a fantastic way to end the celebrations."
听
Radio Leicester will continue to raise money for the appeal and has more fund-raising activities planned for the new year.
