Trio of talent get animated in Glendogie Bogey
Former S Clubber Rachel Stevens will be transformed into a nine-inch high plasticine character alongside actors Alex Norton (Taggart) and Peter Capaldi (The Thick Of It) for Glendogie Bogey, a new animated comedy from ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scotland, made by Edinburgh-based Ko Lik Films.
Ìý
Following on from the Scottish BAFTA-nominated Haunted Hogmanay, Glendogie Bogey reunites unlikely best friends Jeff Wylie (Capaldi) and Thurston McCondry (Norton) for more hilarious supernatural misadventures.
Ìý
In the comic caper Rachel Stevens voices the character of Patricia Ravelston – the object of Jeff's affection and a focus of jealousy for Thurston.
Ìý
Glendogie Bogey sees the friends go in search of a fearsome monster said to lurk in caves underneath the local golf course.
Ìý
Events take a turn for the worse for the chums after Jeff's plans for a romantic weekend with Patricia go awry when she's kidnapped by the gruesome beast. Only dynamic duo Jeff and Thurston can save the day and rescue Patricia.
Ìý
Rachel Stevens is thrilled she'll be part of the animated fun: "I jumped at the chance to get involved with Glendogie Bogey.
Ìý
"I'd never done any kind of animation before. I thought it would be a challenge and this particular project seemed like a great one to be involved with – the role of Patricia is such a fun character, she's a bit contradictory.
Ìý
"She's a total dizzy dora, but at the same time she's really smart and doesn't miss a trick. She's a real lady yet very feisty. She's cheeky, fun and sweet yet also strong, sassy and definitely knows what she wants.
Ìý
"I'm really looking forward to seeing it. How many people can say they have a mini version of themselves? It's very exciting. Good job I'm not there whilst they're animating my character, I'll be there digitally enhancing and decreasing body parts."
Ìý
Cameron Fraser from Ko Lik Films says: "It's been a real treat working with Alex and Peter on both films but having Rachel joining us on Glendogie Bogey added a really fun dynamic. The three of them had a great time recording the voices and we're delighted with Rachel's portrayal of the fiesty Patricia."
Ìý
Gaynor Holmes, Executive Producer, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scotland, says: "We're delighted to give our support again on the second Thurston and Jeff film. Ko-Lik are a very exciting company and it's a real pleasure to be working with such an ambitious and talented team."
Ìý
Filming for the 30-minute stop-frame animation is currently underway in Ko-Lik's Edinburgh studios and the process is expected to take six months to complete.
Ìý
Glendogie Bogey is scheduled to air on ´óÏó´«Ã½ One Scotland in spring 2008.
