Brownlee back at the ´óÏó´«Ã½
|
The "Voice of the Boro" Alastair Brownlee will be back in the
commentary box next season, but this time as part of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Tees team.
Ìý
Middlesbrough-born Ali started his career at the former ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Cleveland
back in 1982. He joined Century Radio in 1995 and has now spent the
past 26 years commentating on the Boro for local radio.
Ìý
In 2006,
Ali won the Gold Award at the New York Radio Festival for his
sports coverage.
Ìý
He says: "I've really enjoyed my time with Century Radio but couldn't miss
this opportunity to return to the ´óÏó´«Ã½ and the club I've supported
all my life.
Ìý
"I've reported on almost 1,500 games for Boro now and I'm looking
forward to enjoying many more successful seasons with them – hopefully with some European action in the offing."
Ìý
After eight successful years commentating on Middlesbrough, Paul
Addison will be leading a drive for more sports coverage than ever
before at ´óÏó´«Ã½ Tees.
Ìý
He says: "I've had a great time following the Boro, the highlights of which
have been the Carling Cup Final win in Cardiff and the various
treks across Europe that followed.
Ìý
"With twice as many listeners on a Saturday afternoon as when I
started, I'm really pleased with what we've accomplished and I'm
looking forward to revamping and enhancing our sports output for
next season.
Ìý
"Once I'd made the decision to leave the commentary box, there
really was only one person to take up the mic. Ali will be a real
asset to the team and I can't wait to hear him and Gary reunited on
air."
