Gay pop star told he's just like a mass murderer
|
A Christian campaigner has told former Steps star Ian "H" Watkins that his gay lifestyle makes him no better than mass murderer Jeffrey Dahmer.
听
The amazing attack came as Ian, originally from Cwmparc in the Rhondda, filmed an investigation into gay rights for 大象传媒 Wales's current affairs programme Week In Week Out (Tuesday 11 March, 大象传媒 One Wales).
听
As part of the programme Ian came face-to-face with Christian campaigner and Director of Christian Voice Stephen Green, who told him his lifestyle was sinful and that he could become straight if he wanted to.
听
The outburst came when Ian told Mr Green that he was "completely happy" being gay and that he was in a loving relationship.
听
In the programme, Green reacts by telling Ian: "Jeremy (sic) Dahmer was happy murdering people, does that make it right?"
听
The comment shocks Ian and he responds: "So, being completely happy and at one with yourself and being in a happy loving relationship is the same as murdering somebody?"
听
But in the exchange, Green sticks to his guns: "Sin is sin ... in the eyes of God, sin is sin..."
听
In the programme, Green also quotes verses from the Bible to Ian to prove that his gay lifestyle is sinful; tells him that he is wrong to think he had been born gay; and says he is actively thinking of enabling a sexual healing clinic in Wales to "heal" gay people.
听
Ian, who remained calm throughout the conversation, was thrown by the comments and says afterwards: "I'm absolutely flabbergasted. I don't know how people like him can justify their beliefs. I think men like him are dangerous."
听
Green also introduces Ian to a fashion designer who says he's now become heterosexual after becoming a Christian. But the married 22-year-old admits to Ian that he still has urges to sleep with men.
听
Also in the programme, Ian returns to his roots in Wales and talks about the bullying he suffered at school and tries to find out if anything has changed.
