|
大象传媒 Radio 5 Live's Sportsweek programme has been voted the best sports programme for the second successive year at the prestigious Sports Journalists' Association Awards.
听
Presented by Garry Richardson on Sunday mornings, Sportsweek has consistently broken major sporting stories over the past year and continues to attract some of the biggest and most influential names in sport as guests.
听
Lewis Hamilton, Ryan Giggs, Michael Owen, Bj枚rn Borg, Lawrence Dallaglio, Paula Radcliffe, Sir Ian Botham and Freddie Flintoff all featured on the programme during 2007.
听
Other contributions of note included tales of dressing room unrest from former Pakistan cricket board chairman Shahriyar Khan in the wake of Bob Woolmer's tragic death at the Cricket World Cup, and basketball star John Amaechi's first UK interview after revealing he was gay.
听
The show also had the inside story on a number of important sporting issues, including the potential sale and boardroom unrest at Liverpool FC.
听
Speaking at a star-studded ceremony held in London, with guests including Sir Bobby Charlton and Lord Coe, Garry Richardson said: "We're immensely proud and delighted to have won the sports media industry's most important accolade for a second time and we're aiming to keep up the good work throughout the coming year."
听
Series producer Rob Smith thanked everyone who has helped and contributed to the show in the last year, including colleagues at 5 Live and 大象传媒 Radio Sport, saying: "It's a real pleasure working with Garry and the rest of the team on the show and we're pleased to continue to make informative and entertaining programmes for our listeners".
听
To cap a successful evening, Garry also received a "highly commended" award in the Sports Broadcaster of the Year category.
