Former Tunbridge Wells schoolgirl is new South East Today weather presenter

The sun is certainly shining for former Tunbridge Wells student Nazaneen Ghaffar as she starts a new position at ´óÏó´«Ã½ South East.

From next week, Monday 23 June, the former Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Girls (TWGGS) pupil will be gracing television screens across Kent and East Sussex as ´óÏó´«Ã½ÌýSouth East Today's new weather presenter.

A Tunbridge Wells girl through and through, Nazaneen, 23, attended St James Primary School, before going to TWGGS.
Ìý
After completing her A-levels Nazaneen did a broadcasting degree course at Ravensbourne College in Chislehurst to help her fulfil her childhood dreams of becoming a television presenter.

Talking about her new position Nazaneen says:
"It really is a dream come true – getting to do my dream job and in my home town.
Ìý
"When I was 11 I went on the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Experience Tour at Television Centre and they gave you the chance to present the weather. It was then I decided that was what I wanted to do.
Ìý
"From then on I started to drive my family mad, I even used to make my Dad turn the sound off on the television news so I could practice by reading the subtitles to him."

Nazaneen joins ´óÏó´«Ã½ South East Today from ITV West where she has been presenting the region's forecast for the last year.

"It was a bit of a Cinderella tale," she says.

"When I left college I worked as a runner for Endemol on Deal Or No Deal and then saw a librarian job at ITV West. I became media coordinator until one day, out of the blue, the head of news called me in and asked if I'd like to give presenting a try.

"I loved working in Bristol but when the ´óÏó´«Ã½ South East Today job came up I thought it was too good an opportunity to let pass by. After all, Tunbridge Wells has always been my home."

Welcoming Nazaneen, ´óÏó´«Ã½ South East Today Editor Quentin Smith says:
"We are delighted to have Nazaneen on board. She is a bright, engaging presenter and will be a real asset to the team. I am sure viewers will take her to their hearts."
