´óÏó´«Ã½ Proms land at Heathrow Terminal 5

On Thursday 26 June the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Proms is taking to the streets of London for a 10-hour marathon – offering up to 17 hours of live, free music as part of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Proms Out+About.

Ìý

Members of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Symphony Orchestra will be performing for free in unexpected venues around the capital – ranging from St Pancras International, University College Hospital and Spitalfields Market to Leicester Square Underground Station.

Ìý

This marks the meeting of some world-famous institutions and magnificent public spaces of London with the magical sounds of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Symphony Orchestra.

Ìý

The orchestra will be reaching out in the most literal sense – actually being out and about in the busiest and most iconic corners of this great city.

Ìý

It will take some stamina from the performers, but they aim to inspire Londoners and give them a small unexpected insight into the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Proms.

Ìý

The ´óÏó´«Ã½ Symphony Orchestra is the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s flagship orchestra and the backbone of the Proms.

Ìý

Each year they perform over 12 Proms, including the First and Last Nights.

Ìý

´óÏó´«Ã½ Proms Out+About strives every year to reach out to different parts of the UK to bring forward the message of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Proms, providing opportunities for families to get involved and for individuals to develop their own musical knowledge through the Proms Learning initiatives.

Ìý

This is a chance for all to be part of this internationally renowned classical music festival.

Ìý

Previous events include the Out+About team taking over the Brighton Dome last year, where the team put on concerts for families and local schools.

Ìý

This year's musical marathon around London will be the first time this type of event has been attempted by the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Proms.

Ìý

Roger Wright, Director of the Proms, says: "´óÏó´«Ã½ Proms Out+About is a fantastic way for us to reach new potential audiences and bring classical music to as many Londoners as possible in this 10-hour music marathon across the capital.

Ìý

"This is an exciting new venture for the Proms and we hope that those who stumble across our events will enjoy this rare opportunity to enjoy performances when least expected by members of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Symphony Orchestra in a mixture of locations – from Heathrow Terminal 5 to the British Museum."
