Biggest voice in entertainment joins ´óÏó´«Ã½ÌýSouthern Counties
´óÏó´«Ã½ Southern Counties Radio will certainly be booming out across Sussex and Surrey this weekend thanks to a very special guest presenter.
Ìý
Actor and all-round national treasure Brian Blessed will be taking up the reigns of the Paul Ross Saturday morning show, for one week only (2 August), from 9.00am to noon.
Ìý
Brian, who has lived in Surrey for many years, will be bringing his own brand of humour to the station along with entertaining anecdotes of his film and television career – from Doctor Who to Henry V, via Flash Gordon and I, Claudius.
Ìý
And then there's the 71-year-old's three attempts to conquer Everest.
Ìý
But, as ever, it is the listeners who help bring the show to life and Brian will be taking calls and taking charge of all the normal Saturday morning features and mayhem such as Town Versus Town, and the Charity Shop Fashion Show Down.
Ìý
Brian said: "It is not everyday I get the opportunity to wax lyrical for three hours unabated.
Ìý
"But it is going to be an absolute delight to hear from some of the good people of Sussex and Surrey, and play a part in their Saturday morning. I can't wait."
Ìý
Southern Counties Radio Managing Editor, Nicci Holliday, said: "When we told people we had Brian Blessed coming onto station the impressions started. All you could hear was 'Brian Blessed!' in big booming voices echoing around the building. But no one has grown a beard yet in his honour!
Ìý
"It is a real coup that he has agreed to present while Paul Ross is on holiday and I know it is going to be a great morning's entertainment. Even if people will have to turn their radios down a decibel or two."
