´óÏó´«Ã½ World Service on DAB+ in Malta


´óÏó´«Ã½ World Service will be available in the DAB+ standard for the first time, thanks to an agreement with Malta's digital audio broadcasting operator, Digi B Network Ltd.

From Wednesday 1 October 2008, ´óÏó´«Ã½ World Service's programmes will be rebroadcast around the clock in Malta on the multiplex Digi B Network 1.

Ìý

Malta is one of the first countries in Europe to adopt the new DAB+ standard, the most recent addition to the DAB family already in use across Europe.

Ìý

Now listeners in Malta will be able to tune in to ´óÏó´«Ã½ World Service's English-language news and information programmes for Europe in this top-quality sound, 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

Lindsay Cornell, Principal Systems Architect, ´óÏó´«Ã½, and Technical Committee Chairman, World DMB, says: "DAB+ is an excellent digital radio technology. It combines great user benefits with efficient use of spectrum. The launch of DAB+ services in Malta is very exciting news for listeners right across Europe."

´óÏó´«Ã½ World Service is also available in Malta via the country's Public Service Broadcaster (PBS) stations – Radio Malta 93.7FM, 999AM, Malta's Magic 91.7 FM – University of Malta radio station Campus FM 103.7FM and on Melita Cable TV.
