´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 1's Greg James and ´óÏó´«Ã½ 1Xtra's Gemma are set to compete against each other in a set of tough challenges to highlight the issues that surround young people and money.

Living on a strict budget for a week our presenters will be challenged by their respective Breakfast Show hosts, Chris Moyles and Trevor Nelson, to find the best deals and save the most.

These challenges form part of a week-long campaign across Radio 1 and 1Xtra to prove that, with a bit of thought and effort, you can make your money stretch much further than you think.

The campaign kicks off on The Surgery at 10.00pm on Sunday (25 January) and challenges on a budget include: taking a celebrity out on a date; cooking lunch for fellow DJs; making their own toiletries; and shopping for outfits (budget £8).

Throughout the week, there will be guest experts such as Dragons' Den's Peter Jones on hand to offer advice.

Highlights of both Greg and Gemma's tasks will be broadcast each day, with The Surgery on Sunday 1 February rounding things up with a Money Special offering advice from the experts.

Online at bbc.co.uk/radio1 there will be advice, exclusive video diaries from Greg and Gemma, plus a special interactive film starring Scott Mills.

Can Radio 1 and 1Xtra encourage listeners to make the most of what they've got? Does living within your means result in a life devoid of fun? By focusing on the pride we feel when we find a bargain or good deal, the aim is to change perception of saving money into something to be proud of.

Greg James presents the Early Breakfast Show on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 1 (weekdays, 4.00-6.30am); Gemma co-hosts the ´óÏó´«Ã½ 1Xtra Breakfast Show with Trevor Nelson (weekdays, 8.00-11.00am).
