New 13-part murder mystery event, Harper's Island, lands on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three in 2009

Brand new drama Harper's Island arrives on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three later this year bringing murder mystery to the channel.

Licensed by the ´óÏó´«Ã½ from CBS Paramount International Television, Harper's Island will push the boundaries of traditional television with frightening, tense and exciting drama that will keep audiences riveted.

A group of family and friends travel to a secluded island off the coast of Seattle to attend a week-long wedding celebration. As the festivities begin, friendships are tested and secrets exposed, as a murderer claims victims one by one, transforming the week into a terrifying struggle for survival.

Over 13 episodes, Harper's Island will unravel a twisted tale of murder and revenge as these wedding guests – each with their own motives, fears and desires – must find the killer (or killers) before they strike again.

By the end of the 13 episodes all questions will be answered, the killer will be revealed and there will be few survivors.

Sue Deeks, Head of Series, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Programme Acquisition, says: "This is truly exciting event television – a suspenseful, contemporary take on the classic murder mystery with more than a dash of horror – think Agatha Christie meets Scream and you will get the idea!"

Danny Cohen, Controller, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three, added: "Alongside ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three's focus on original drama like Being Human and P.A.s, the channel has a history of acquiring a small number of high-quality programmes from abroad which are suited to young audiences.

"Recent examples have included the wonderful performance of Chris Lilley in Summer Heights High and the sharp writing talent of the team behind Family Guy and I believe Harper's Island will sit confidently alongside these."

Abby Mills (Elaine Cassidy), still haunted by the vivid and persistent nightmares of her mother's murder, journeys home to Harper's Island for the first time since the horrific event to celebrate the marriage of her childhood best friend Henry Dunn (Christopher Gorham) to Trish Wellington (Katie Cassidy), a beautiful, innocent and wealthy heiress. Neither the happy couple nor the wedding guests have any idea that returning to Harper's Island will trigger terror and death to be added to the nuptial festivities.

Executive Producers are Jon Turteltaub (Jericho) and Jeffrey Bell (Alias); Karim Zreik (Jericho), Dan Shotz (Jericho), Tyler Bensinger (Cold Case) are Co-Executive Producers. Ari Schossberg (Hide And Seek) is Co-Executive Producer and Creator.
