´óÏó´«Ã½ announces new Future Media Controller for Audio & Music and Mobile

The ´óÏó´«Ã½ has announced the appointment of Mark Kortekaas as its new Controller for ´óÏó´«Ã½ Audio & Music (A&M) Interactive and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Mobile.

Reporting to ´óÏó´«Ã½ Future Media & Technology (FM&T) Director Erik Huggers, Kortekaas will be responsible for the all ´óÏó´«Ã½'s output on mobile platforms and the multiplatform delivery of Audio & Music content.

In a 20-year career in digital multimedia, Kortekaas has held senior technology roles at NBC, Sony Online Entertainment, CBS and, most recently, Project Kangaroo, where he was Chief Technology Officer.

Erik Huggers said: "We plan to improve the ´óÏó´«Ã½ audio and music experience by creating a pan-industry online radio player, developing our radio network sites, and further improving ´óÏó´«Ã½ Online's music pages.

"Mobile is also a big part of our plans. The ´óÏó´«Ã½ iPlayer has made our great content available, mobile and on-demand, through a wide range of devices.

"This has helped ´óÏó´«Ã½ mobile to become our fastest growing service, and in Mark we are recruiting an executive who will help us build on this progress."

Mark Kortekaas said: "As well the amazing content the ´óÏó´«Ã½ produces, it's leading the industry in reaching diverse audiences on multiple platforms in truly innovative ways. I'm very much looking forward to becoming a part of the team."

Kortekaas starts on 14 April 2009.
