´óÏó´«Ã½ Two has commissioned a new 6 x 30-minute comedy series from ´óÏó´«Ã½ in-house comedy starring Dawn French, called Roger And Val Have Just Got In. Casting for the male lead is still ongoing.
Written by Emma and Beth Kilcoyne (Dogtown), the series will feature the lives of a middle-aged couple after they've come through the door at the end of the working day.
Mark Freeland, Head of Comedy at the ´óÏó´«Ã½, said: "Roger And Val leapt off the page at me the very first time I saw it. There will be nothing like it when it arrives on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Two. It's original, intriguing, sweet, funny and full of pathos. And it's only got two people in it."
Janice Hadlow, Controller ´óÏó´«Ã½ Two, said: "Intelligent and surprising comedy is integral to ´óÏó´«Ã½ Two's output so I'm delighted to be welcoming Roger And Val to the channel."
The series will be produced by Pete Thornton (Jam And Jerusalem, The Smoking Room) and executive produced by Hugo Blick (Marion And Geoff, Sensitive Skin) and will be broadcast later this year. Â
