George Entwistle, Controller, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Knowledge Commissioning, today announced the appointment of Jan Younghusband as Commissioning Editor, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Music & Events. This appointment completes the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Knowledge Commissioning team.
Jan is currently Head of Arts & Performance at Channel 4 where her recent commissions include artist Steve McQueen's BAFTA and Camera D'Or award-winning feature film debut, Hunger, the ambitious public art initiative Big Art and online animation channel 4mations.tv.
As well as being part of the Knowledge Commissioning team, run by Head of Knowledge Commissioning Emma Swain, Jan will also report to Tim Davie in ´óÏó´«Ã½ Audio & Music, in his capacity as director of pan-´óÏó´«Ã½ music strategy.
Jan said: "The decision to leave Channel 4 is a personal one – music was always my first love and the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Music commissioning role is clearly a fantastic opportunity for me.
"I am both honoured and excited to have been chosen for such an important role.
"I've had the most wonderful ten years at Channel 4 and have been privileged to work with many talented people. I am pleased that I'm leaving with the arts in vibrant health at Channel 4 with a strong slate of upcoming productions."
George Entwistle said: "Jan's wealth of experience, contacts and proven achievement in commissioning breakthrough programmes such as Operatunity and How Music Works make her the perfect fit for this role.
"As well as delivering Vision's music and events strategy Jan will ensure it works in harmony with music and events content across the ´óÏó´«Ã½ as a whole. I'm really looking forward to working with her."
