"Some of the early ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing artists who have performed previously at festivals have gone on to major success and I'm sure, having heard the T line-up, we will be hearing more from some of these artists in the future."

Musicians can upload their music at bbc.co.uk/introducing for the possible opportunity of being broadcast on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio, which could lead to a slot on one of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing stages.

The first ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing stage was launched at Glastonbury in 2007 where amongst the names performing were The Ting Tings.

There is comprehensive coverage of T in the Park on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 1 across the weekend.

Edith Bowman returns to present the best of the weekend's live music on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scotland. Co-hosting with Edith on ´óÏó´«Ã½Â Three will be fellow Radio 1 favourites Reggie Yates and Nick Grimshaw.

Plus, Radio 1 and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Scotland presenter Vic Galloway joins Edith on ´óÏó´«Ã½ One Scotland and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Two Scotland, and newcomer Matt Edmondson will report from across the festival site for all three channels.

Radio 1 returns to T in The Park with live music highlights, the latest news and the backstage gossip.

On Friday 10 July Edith Bowman brings the opening day atmosphere in her show from 1.00 to 4.00pm.

On Saturday 11 July Huw Stephens is in Kinross as the Saturday afternoon Request Show goes totally T from 1.00 to 4.00pm.

Then, on Monday 13 July, Nick Grimshaw presents the definitive round-up of the festival in his show from 9.00pm to midnight.

Notes to Editors

´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing

´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing supports unsigned, undiscovered and under-the-radar music across the ´óÏó´«Ã½ – giving the best new acts broadcast opportunities on ´óÏó´«Ã½ radio, television and online as well as chances to perform at major festivals.

´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing is a multi-platform initiative across Radio 1, 6 Music, 1Xtra, the Asian Network, over 30 ´óÏó´«Ã½ Local Radio stations and at bbc.co.uk/introducing.

´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing launched in June 2007 with its own stage at Glastonbury. The launch also saw the very first ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing show on Radio 1, presented by Huw Stephens, along with the Radio 1 regional opt-out shows also being rebranded as ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing.

In addition to Radio 1, there are now ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing shows on 1Xtra, 6 Music, and over 30 local radio stations – all working together to provide an internal network dedicated to showcasing the hottest new talent from across the UK.

´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing is now firmly established itself as a key stage at many of the UK's major festivals. In 2009, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing will have a stage at T in the Park for the first time.

Bands and artists can upload their music on the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing website – giving them the chance to be played on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio and on the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing stages at the major festivals. This exciting new tool is still developing and improving – with a completion date for the end of September 2009.

By supporting new music, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing has showcased more than 270 bands since it began.
