´óÏó´«Ã½ Comedy has secured a first-look deal with up and coming comedy writer Jon Brown, who will pen three scripts for the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s in-house comedy department.
Jon, whose recent credits include the forthcoming Mongrels, a 30-minute eight-part series for ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three, which will air in spring 2010, and Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps, will start working on these new projects shortly.
We Are Mongrels is the world's first multi-species puppet comedy.
It will feature four urban creatures voiced by an array of Britain's fastest rising comedians, including: Rufus Jones (Katy Brand's Big Ass Show), Lucy Montgomery (Armstrong And Miller), Ruth Bratt (Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive), Paul Kaye (Pulling) and Katy Brand (Katy Brand's Big Ass Show).
The series is written and developed by Jon Brown and Daniel Peak. The creator and director is Adam Miller and producer is Stephen McCrum.
Simon Wilson, acting ´óÏó´«Ã½ Controller of Comedy Commissioning, said: "We are always looking at ways to ensure we work with the best talent in the industry and are delighted to have Jon on board.
"Jon has already proved his comical talent and brilliance of the material he can produce on the likes of Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps and the forthcoming series Mongrels."
Stephen McCrum, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Executive Producer, added: "Jon is a brilliant and precociously talented young comedy writer, who already has a wealth of great programmes under his belt. His fresh comic style reflects and reaches ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three's young and diverse audience and we are looking forward to developing this further."
Jon Brown said: "I'm really happy to have signed my first first-look deal with the ´óÏó´«Ã½. Since I was just a tiny comedy baby I've been raised and nurtured inside TV Centre, so it somehow feels right that I should make my passage into full-on sitcom manhood with their continued support and guidance.
"Between this and our forthcoming ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three puppet show, I hope to make myself an established presence at the ´óÏó´«Ã½. A bit like Wogan. But with nicer trousers."
Jon's other credits include: ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three's hit comedy series Grown Ups, No Heroics, After You've Gone and Horne And Corden.
