The Football League returns to ´óÏó´«Ã½ TV

The Football League Show

´óÏó´«Ã½ Sport brings Football League fans across the country unrivalled coverage of their team next season, with a new Saturday night programme called The Football League Show, which will showcase all the goals from the Coca-Cola Championship, League One and League Two.

Presented by Manish Bhasin, The Football League Show will begin on Saturday 8 August at 11.45pm on ´óÏó´«Ã½ One.

Joining Manish in the studio, with his unique brand of expert analysis and candid opinion on major talking points, will be Steve Claridge, whose playing career included spells at Leicester City, Portsmouth, Millwall and Birmingham City to name but four clubs.

´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 5 Live regular Mark Clemmit takes up the role of roving reporter, bringing viewers all of the stories making the headlines.

Live coverage of the Football League also returns to ´óÏó´«Ã½ TV for the first time since 1988. Ten matches from the Championship will be shown live, beginning with West Bromwich Albion v Newcastle United on Saturday 8 August at 5.20pm (kick-off 5.30pm) on ´óÏó´«Ã½ One.

Three additional live games have been confirmed (see below) with details of the remaining six to be announced later in the season.

  • Saturday 26 September: Ipswich Town v Newcastle United, 5.15pm (kick-off 5.30pm), channel to be confirmed
  • Saturday 24 October: Derby County v Queens Park Rangers, 5.15pm (kick-off 5.30pm), ´óÏó´«Ã½ Two
  • Sunday 1 November: Cardiff City v Nottingham Forest, 1.45pm (kick-off 2.00 pm), ´óÏó´«Ã½ One

´óÏó´«Ã½ Sport Online will simulcast the live Championship games and provide match edits of the weekend's games' highlights.

In addition there will be a divisional goals round-up from each league every week. All the Carling Cup and Johnstone's Paint Trophy goals will also be available.

The Football League Show will also be available for seven days on ´óÏó´«Ã½ iPlayer and on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Red Button until midday the next day (Sunday).

The League Cup also returns to ´óÏó´«Ã½ TV with live coverage for the first time since 1987.

There will be a highlights programme for each round, the first of these on Wednesday 12 August featuring Macclesfield Town v Leicester City.

The League Cup Final will be shown live as will one leg of each semi final. Highlights of the end of season Play-Offs will bring the season to a dramatic conclusion.

Following Manish's move, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sport all-rounder Dan Walker takes up presenting duties on ´óÏó´«Ã½ One's Football Focus.

Dan, a regular face on the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s golf, horse racing, Six Nations and Wimbledon coverage, has previously worked as a reporter on Football Focus, Match Of The Day and Final Score.

Final Score also gets a new face, with Gabby Logan fronting the red button and ´óÏó´«Ã½ One news and results service.

Match Of The Day (´óÏó´«Ã½ One) returns on 15 August with Gary Lineker alongside regular studio pundits Alan Hansen, Alan Shearer, Mark Lawrenson and Lee Dixon.
