´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 5 Live's new look to Saturdays and Sundays starts this weekend with new programmes from Danny Baker and Christian O'Connell, plus the return of Fighting Talk and Donal MacIntyre, and all the action from the Home Nations' World Cup qualifiers and international friendlies.
The Danny Baker Show (Saturdays, 9.00-11.00am) kicks off the new look to 5 Live weekends – providing the perfect warm-up to a day of live sport – featuring listener stories, comedy banter, fans on the road, interactive games, special guests and examination of the big (but mostly the little) issues that occupy supporters' minds ahead of the weekend action.
Danny will bring his unique brand of comedy to Saturday mornings with the creative assistance of the UK's legion of travelling fans and armchair supporters.
Joining Danny for the opening programme is Stoke City's throw-in specialist Rory Delap and musician Ian Broudie.
The programme is also available to watch in-vision under the red button and via bbc.co.uk/5live.
New to 5 Live on Sunday mornings, Christian O'Connell presents The Christian O'Connell Solution (11.00am-12noon), a 15-part topical comedy show which seeks to solve some of the week's big news issues.
In the first programme Christian is joined by the Doctor, David Tennant, and Bob Mills to put right some of the world biggest (and smallest) wrongs in just one hour!
As part of the new look to Sunday mornings, the Sony Award-winning Sportsweek moves to a slightly earlier time of 8.30am with Gabby Logan's programme following at 9.30am.
This weekend also sees the return of Fighting Talk (Saturdays, 11.00am-12noon) for a new season of points for punditry.
Colin Murray is judge and jury as a panel of special guests fight it out over the week's big sporting stories.
This week Colin is joined by sports journalists Greg Brady, Des Kelly and the 2005 Ashes hero Simon Jones.
On Sunday evening Donal MacIntyre and the team return for a new series of revelations and investigations (7.30-8.30pm).
Features in the first programme include an investigation into overzealous local authorities targeting some of society's most vulnerable people in pursuit of unpaid council tax – a move which is backfiring and costing taxpayers dearly.
And, as accusations of rigged votes continue to fly in Afghanistan, Donal hears from those who have investigated the broader impact of corruption in the country, revealing shocking stories of fraud and bribery at all levels of Afghan society.
In addition to the new programmes, this weekend 5 Live Sport (Saturday, 12noon-9.30pm, Sunday 12noon-6.00pm) has live commentary of the World Cup 2010 qualifiers Scotland v Macedonia and Poland v Northern Ireland, and England's international friendly against Slovenia at Wembley.
Plus, on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 5 Live Sports Extra, there is all the latest from the US Open and uninterrupted cricket commentary of the second One Day International between England and Australia.
You can listen to 5 Live and 5 Live Sports Extra via DAB digital radio, digital TV and online at bbc.co.uk/5live.
