New schedule for Radio 5 Live for 2010 and beyond

´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 5 Live unveils a bold new weekday schedule to start the New Year, as the station prepares for its move to a new base in Salford in 2011. 

The schedule features new two-hour daytime programmes after the Sony award-winning breakfast programme with Nicky Campbell and Shelagh Fogarty (Monday to Friday 6.00-10.00am).

Victoria Derbyshire's programme featuring the best of original journalism and keynote interviews will now run Monday to Friday from 10.00am to 12noon. Victoria recently won the Nick Clarke Award for the best broadcast interview of the year across all UK media.

Gabby Logan joins the daytime schedule with a new lunchtime programme (Monday to Friday 12noon to 2.00pm) giving the essential guide to the day with a news and sport infused show featuring updates from journalists nationwide. On Wednesdays, Gabby will host Prime Minister's Questions with analysis from 5 Live's chief political correspondent John Pienaar.

Richard Bacon presents an exciting new show (Monday to Thursdays 2.00-4.00pm) focussing on current affairs, entertainment and culture. The show will feature key interviews and lively discussion as well as up-to-the-minute news updates.

Tony Livesey, who has been a regular voice on Radio 5 Live, will present the late night programme (Monday to Thursday 10.30pm-1.00am) with its own unique atmosphere digesting and debating the issues of the day.

Simon Mayo and Mark Kermode present a new two-hour film show (Fridays 2.00-4.00pm) featuring the Sony award-winning film review and its hugely popular podcast including major interviews with the movers and shakers from the worldwide movie industry.

Kate Silverton completes a refreshed weekend line-up with a show on Sundays (9.30-11.00am) reflecting on the key news events of the week and anticipating the next as well as preparing for a major afternoon of sport.

Radio 5 Live Controller, Adrian Van Klaveren, said of the new schedule: "I'm delighted with this quality line-up of hugely talented broadcasters and I'm really excited about the new schedule, which sets us up brilliantly for the move to Salford in 2011."

Writing on the 5 Live blog, he added: "I'm delighted we have in place long-term commitments to 5 Live which should be very important in ensuring the success of the move."
