Sandy Smith, currently Executive Editor of ´óÏó´«Ã½'s Panorama, has been appointed to the new role of Executive Editor for The One Show.
This follows Tessa Finch's move to Head of Development, Vision Productions.
Sandy has worked across a variety of productions, both studio-based and long form, and was formerly the Editor of ´óÏó´«Ã½ One's Watchdog.
He is currently the Editor of Panorama which, under his leadership, successfully moved to its new primetime ´óÏó´«Ã½ One slot.
Panorama has achieved critical acclaim for programmes including Britain's Homecare Scandal and its Baby P investigation.
Sandy will be joining in the New Year and says: "The One Show is a brilliant fixture in the schedule and a family favourite.
"It is an enormous privilege to be asked to lead such a talented team and to work with the channel to ensure The One Show's success going forward."
Liam Keelan, Controller of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Daytime, adds: "The One Show is an incredibly important programme for ´óÏó´«Ã½ One – Sandy's experience will be the ideal fit as we look to continue the show's great success."
The One Show has become essential early evening weekday viewing. The show has been running for over two years; regularly attracts nearly five million viewers and was recently extended from 30 minutes to one hour every Friday.
