As the Noughties draw to a close, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 1 is set to unveil the charts of the decade – revealing which singles and albums have sold the most in the UK in the last ten years.
Between Christmas and New Year, Radio 1's Nihal will count down the Top 100 best-selling singles and albums of the decade – as compiled by the Official Charts Company.
Who will make it to the top? Expect anything from Britney to Beyonce and The Beatles to Black Eyed Peas. And we can't forget the reality TV stars, charity records, boy bands and rock stars who could all feature in what will be the most talked about charts of the decade!
Find out who made it and who didn't on Monday 28 December between 1.00 and 4.00pm when Nihal unveils the best-selling albums of the last ten years.
Then, between 1.00 and 4.00pm on Tuesday 29 to Thursday 31 December, Nihal will run down the most popular 100 singles of the decade, culminating on New Year's Eve with the unmasking of the best-selling song of the decade.
Nihal says: "Oh my gosh! Ten years of music and I get to host the countdowns of the decade – time to start digging in the crates."
1. The Official Charts Company (OCC) is a joint venture between record labels' body the The British Recorded Music Industry (BPI) and the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA). The OCC is responsible for the commissioning, marketing, distribution and management of the UK's industry standard music and video charts and is endorsed by the British Video Association (BVA).
2. The OCC compiles its charts from sales information gathered across all key distribution (or entertainment) channels including all major high street retail chains, independent stores, supermarkets, mail order internet retailers and digital music service providers. This market research sample equates to 99% of the total UK Singles market; 98% of the total UK Albums market and 90% of the total UK DVD market.
The Official Album Chart Of The Decade will be presented by Nihal on Monday 28 December, 1.00-4.00pm.
The Official Singles Chart Of The Decade will be revealed over three days hosted by Nihal starting on Tuesday 29 December with the number one unveiled on the Thursday 31 December just before 4.00pm.
