Closely following her recent Golden Globe nomination, Carey Mulligan's breakout performance in Lone Scherfig's An Education has been recognised by BAFTA this morning, with an additional nomination for Best Actress to complement her existing Orange Rising Star selection.
This joins the film's other seven nominations for Best Film, Outstanding British Film (Finola Dwyer, Amanda Posey, Lone Scherfig and Nick Hornby), Best Director (Lone Scherfig), Best Supporting Actor (Alfred Molina), Best Adapted Screenplay (Nick Hornby), Make Up & Hair (Lizzie Yianni Georgiou), and Costume Design (Odile Dicks-Mireaux).
Fish Tank brings a nomination for Outstanding British Film for Andrea Arnold, Kees Kasander and Nick Laws.
Bright Star, directed by Jane Campion, was nominated for Costume Design (Janet Patterson).
Eran Creevy, writer/director of Shifty, is nominated for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.
Armando Iannucci's hit political satire In The Loop has received two nominations: Outstanding British Film (Kevin Loader, Adam Tandy, Armando Iannucci, Jesse Armstrong, Simon Blackwell and Tony Roche); and Adapted Screenplay (Jesse Armstrong, Simon Blackwell, Armando Iannucci and Tony Roche).
Three out of the five nominations for Outstanding British Film go to ´óÏó´«Ã½ Films: An Education, In The Loop and Fish Tank.
In addition, ´óÏó´«Ã½ One's Christmas hit The Gruffalo, was also the recipient of a nomination today in the Short Animation category (Michael Rose, Martin Pope, Jakob Schuh and Max Lang).
