The city of Dundee brings down the curtain on the world's largest Music Festival, when the Caird Hall provides the Scottish finale for this year's ´óÏó´«Ã½ Proms, on Saturday 11 September.
Celebrations for the Proms climax are an annual part of the country's musical calendar, when all the areas of the UK join the festivities and host events marking the conclusion of the annual ´óÏó´«Ã½ Proms season at the Royal Albert Hall.
The Scottish event visits Dundee for the first time this year, bringing with it some of the magic associated with the Last Night Of The Proms, but with a distinctly Scottish flavour.
This year's venue is the famous Caird Hall, and in keeping with tradition, the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scottish Symphony Orchestra provides the musical backbone for the night, lending its renowned skill and virtuosity to a great mix of popular classics and Scottish favourites.
The orchestra, conducted by one of the stars of the Scottish classical music scene, Garry Walker, will be joined by a number of international guest performers who will be announced at a later date.
Tickets for the event are free of charge, and to bring the real bohemian spirit of the Proms to Dundee, there will be a choice of standing "promenade" tickets in the stalls area, with a limited number of seated tickets in the balcony.
The Caird Hall is an ideal choice for the event due to its large size and world famous acoustic. The combination of this special hall with the renowned exuberance of the Scottish "Last Night" audience will make for a very special evening of music making.
For audiences who can't make it to Dundee, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scotland coverage will of course capture the excitement of the night on television, radio and online.
The programme will feature popular classics and works with a connection to Dundee's nautical past, and in keeping with the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s annual pan-Britain celebration of the Last Night, the event will culminate in a live link-up to the Royal Albert Hall in London, and other venues around the country, for the traditional festivities that round off the world's biggest music festival.
Tickets for ´óÏó´«Ã½ Proms, Last Night Celebrations in Scotland, will be available from Thursday 1 July, though members of the public can register their interest by going to bbc.co.uk/showsandtours and follow the links to the mailing list.
