Radio 2 and 6 Music appoint Network Manager

Lorna Clarke

Lorna Clarke has been appointed as Network Manager for ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 2 and 6 Music, with immediate effect.

Reporting to Bob Shennan, Lorna's role will cover strategy, finance, commercial and creative development of both networks.

Bob Shennan comments: "Lorna has an outstanding talent and thorough knowledge of the industry gained by working in UK radio in a career spanning 25 years so I'm thrilled that she is bringing her formidable expertise to Radio 2 and 6 Music."

Lorna has been the Electric Proms Director for the past four years, establishing the innovative festival as one of the key musical landmarks in the UK live music calendar.

Lorna's career began in 1983 in the newsrooms of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Cornwall, Radio Viking in Hull, Metro Radio in Newcastle, ´óÏó´«Ã½ GLR and World Service News. Lorna joined KISS 100 London in 1990, working her way up to Programme Director, which included a six month attachment as Development Manager for KISS 100 in South Africa.

In 2002, Lorna became Head of Mainstream Programmes for ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 1 for five years, followed by four years as ´óÏó´«Ã½ Talent Executive. She moved on to become Head of Programmes for ´óÏó´«Ã½ 1Xtra combined with Electric Proms Director, focusing solely on the Electric Proms role from 2006.

Lorna is a respected radio and music executive, having judged the Sony Radio Academy awards for the past 11 years, and The Mercury Music Prize four times. Whilst in the position of Programme Director for KISS 100 in 1995, Lorna was awarded the prize of Best Radio Programmer by the commercial radio industry.

Lorna Clarke comments: "Radio 2 and 6 Music are two distinctive networks which are going from strength to strength creatively and I'm delighted to be joining the team at this extremely exciting time."

The Radio 2 Electric Proms will now be led by Radio 2 and 6 Music Head of Music, Jeff Smith, and his live music team.
