The ´óÏó´«Ã½ today, Monday 26 July, confirmed that Alex Jones will be joining The One Show team to present ´óÏó´«Ã½ One's popular flagship show alongside Jason Manford.
Alex says: "I'm absolutely thrilled to bits to be joining The One Show. I watch the show at home every night on my sofa and can't believe I'm now swapping it for The One Show sofa! It is the break I have only ever dreamed of and I can't believe I'm getting to work with Jason Manford, who I think is just fantastic – it truly is the icing on the cake."
Alex, 32, who has 10 years experience in television, is fluent in Welsh and has previously presented programmes in Wales including Tocyn, a stylised travel series; Chwa, a Welsh language extreme sports series; and Salon, a style and fashion programme. She also co-hosted with rugby legend Jonathan Davies during the 2010 Six Nations Championship and is a regular co-host on Real Radio GMG in Wales.
Co-presenter Jason, who is looking forward to working with Alex, says: "After meeting so many brilliant presenters Alex just felt really special. She is going to be brill and we can't wait to start the show together."
Liam Keelan, Controller of Daytime, says: "I'm delighted to welcome Alex to The One Show team. Her screen test with Jason was outstanding and from that moment we knew she was the one. We are really proud to have Alex on board and look forward to introducing her to The One Show audience. She has a lovely sense of humour and she's the perfect fit for Jason Manford as the show begins its next journey from 16 August."
The One Show editor Sandy Smith is delighted to welcome Alex to the helm and adds: "Alex is warm, funny and very experienced, despite being almost unknown outside Wales. It feels right for many reasons to be developing someone new at this time and I hope One Show viewers enjoy seeing her relationship with Jason develop on screen and take her to their heart."
Alex and Jason will host The One Show every Monday to Thursday from 16 August, with Chris Evans hosting Fridays from 20 August on ´óÏó´«Ã½ One.
The hugely successful show – which regularly attracts more than five million viewers – is also being simulcast on the award-winning ´óÏó´«Ã½ HD channel.
