´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing stage returns to Leeds and Reading Festival with more fresh UK talent

´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing

´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens last night revealed the line-up for the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing stage at the Reading and Leeds Festival.

From Friday 27 to Sunday 29 August, the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing Stage showcases 36 under-the-radar artists from around the UK. It is the third time that the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing stage has been at the festival, having launched at Glastonbury 2007.

Jason Carter, Editor, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing, says: "Hosting a ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing stage at Reading and Leeds is a privilege and one of the pinnacle moments on our live music calendar.

"For a third year, the ´óÏó´«Ã½ is able to give some of the most talented up-and-coming bands access to one of the premier music festivals – we will reflect much of the content on TV, radio and online.

"For some, in the past, it has been the major stepping stone to wider success."

Previous bands that have graced the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing Stage at the Reading and Leeds Festival include Everything Everything, Pulled Apart By Horses and Dinosaur Pile Up.

This year, the stage will also feature the new "returners slot" – artists who have been supported by ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing in previous years, who have now started to find a wider audience, are given the chance to return to the stage where it all started and perform a headline slot.

This year's returners are The Law, Gallops and Little Fish.

Live music highlights from the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing stage are broadcast across ´óÏó´«Ã½ Local Radio, Asian Network, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 1Xtra, ´óÏó´«Ã½ 6 Music as well as Radio 1 on Huw Stephens's show (9-10pm) on Wednesday 1 September.

´óÏó´«Ã½ Three continues its summer of live music, with Edith Bowman and Reggie Yates presenting highlights and performances from Reading's Main Stage and the Radio 1/NME Stage.

There will also be festival gossip and artist interviews from across the weekend and further programming on the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Red Button.

Radio 1 will also be at the festival bringing the latest news, biggest acts and all the backstage gossip.

´óÏó´«Ã½ Online

´óÏó´«Ã½ Online will offer a comprehensive Reading and Leeds website, bringing audiences closer to the mayhem with extended video highlights from over 50 of the most exciting artists and incredible stage photography. This will be complemented by a highly useable and attractive mobile site, providing unique coverage of two of the worlds greatest rock festivals.

´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing is a multi-platform initiative across Radio 1, 6 Music, 1Xtra, Asian Network, Switch, over 35 ´óÏó´«Ã½ local radio stations and at bbc.co.uk/introducing – all working together to provide an internal network dedicated to showcasing the hottest new talent from across the UK.

The ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing Stage is now present at key UK music festivals throughout the year, including Glastonbury, T in the Park and Reading and Leeds.

Musicians can upload their music at bbc.co.uk/introducing for the possible opportunity of being broadcast on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio, which could lead to a slot on one of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing stages.
