Stuart Maconie announced as new face of Inside Out North West

Broadcaster and writer Stuart Maconie will be the new presenter of Inside Out North West when the programme returns for a new series on ´óÏó´«Ã½ One on Monday 18 October.

Stuart is a television and radio presenter, journalist, columnist and author. He co-hosts the Radcliffe And Maconie Show on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 2 every Monday to Wednesday evening, as well as The Freak Zone on ´óÏó´«Ã½ 6 Music on Sunday afternoons.

He was the recipient of the Sony Awards Radio Broadcaster of the Year in 2001 and is a previous GQ Man of the Year.

His television work includes presenting the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s On Trial shows, Stuart Maconie's TV Towns for ITV and The Cinema Show on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Four – as well as several Inside Out documentaries for the ´óÏó´«Ã½ in the North West and North East.

Stuart has also written a number of best-selling books and has regular columns in newspapers and magazines. He divides his time between Manchester, Birmingham and Cumbria and is happiest when fell-walking with his dog, Muffin.

He says: "I was born and raised in the North West of England and, over the last few years, I've been delighted that my 'centre of gravity' has shifted back to here.

"This is my favourite part of England for lots of reasons, the landscape, the people, the culture and the history, and I hope to get a chance to reflect all that on Inside Out."

In the first of the new series, Stuart follows in the footsteps of legendary Lake District fell walker Alfred Wainwright and reveals the surprising secrets of a marathon expedition Wainwright made along the length of the Pennines on the eve of the Second World War.

Jacey Normand heads to the Isle of Man following sightings of wild wallabies. Will she find any or are the stories just urban myths? And there's a unique life swap for two people from Blackburn.

Inside Out North West returns to ´óÏó´«Ã½ One on Monday 18 October at 7.30pm.
