Three of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Cymru Wales' promotions have been nominated for the the prestigious 2010 Promax UK Awards, the UK's biggest television and radio promotion and marketing event.
The TV "promo" for the 2010 Six Nations Wales v Scotland game, which featured a Wales rugby fan from Nantyglo in Blaenau Gwent who witnessed Paul Thorburn's monster kick from the 1986 Wales v Scotland game, has received a nomination in the Best Sports Promo category.
The 2010 Six Nations campaign focused on the six emotions for the Six Nations games – hope, joy, shock, heartache, frustration and euphoria – and included the tag line "Feel every moment of every game on TV, on radio, online." Each promo featured a Wales rugby fan with their memories of classic Six Nations encounters.
Jamie and Louise's broadcast from the Hay Literary Festival on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Wales received a nomination in the Best Radio Promo category. Part of a campaign to promote the station's coverage of this prestigious event, each trail was written in a different literary genre. The spy theme of the nominated trail had the hero running against time to get back to base and 'pick up the transmission', which was the Jamie and Louise show.
And the promotion for the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Wales Charity Message for Gisda – a Caernarfon based charity dealing with the problems of youth homelessness in the Gwynedd area – has been nominated in the Best Direct Response promo category.
The promotion was filmed in front of Caernarfon castle where an actor carried out a number of imaginary domestic chores on The Maes, raising a few curious looks from passers-by as well as awareness for the aims of the charity to address the homelessness situation.
Rhodri Talfan Davies, Head of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Wales Strategy and Communications, said: "This is a great honour for the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Wales promotions team reflecting the quality and high standard of their work. These three promos make up only a small portion of the numerous campaigns produced each year for TV and radio and reflect the diversity of the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s work – from rugby, to charity promotions, TV and radio, from Hay to Caernarfon."
The Promax UK awards will be held on Friday 12 November in London.
