Graham Norton welcomes Joan Rivers, Johnny Knoxville, Catherine Tate and the Pet Shop Boys to his Friday night show

Actor and Hollywood hell-raiser Johnny Knoxville, iconic comedian Joan Rivers, actress Catherine Tate and music duo the Pet Shop Boys join Graham Norton on the sofa for tonight's Graham Norton Show on ´óÏó´«Ã½ One.

Talking about the new documentary on her life, which was 14 months in the making, Joan says: "It's about showbiz, it's about survival. It's funny, but it's serious. It was made by real film-makers. Their last one was about Darfur – they made one about a man who was electrocuted, and shouldn't have been, and one about me – that's a trilogy!" Joan says she doesn't like watching herself but admits to having watched the film four times.

Joan, who reveals she is 77, says: "Age sucks," and is appalled when the audience applauds her. "They are only applauding because they are younger than me and if they applaud your age in New York it's because they know an apartment is about to come on the market!"

Talking about her relationship with her daughter, Melissa, who she has recently moved in with, she says: "It's very difficult for her to have me as a mother."

Johnny Knoxville explains his new film is "just a little bit more stupid in 3-D. It puts you right in the middle of the stunt." On the pranks, he says: "Everything is real – it's 24/7 and you've got to protect yourself at all times. I get very nervous."

On her new film with Jack Black, Catherine Tate says: "I was having so much fun I really didn't pay attention to what was going on." And, of the new play she is in, she admits: "I didn't have to audition – I just got the call."

The Pet Shop Boys perform their classic single It's A Sin live in the studio, before chatting with Graham. On their longevity and first hit 25 years ago, Neil Tennant says: "I thought we were a one-hit wonder."

And, finally, Graham – and Joan – pull the lever on foolhardy members of the audience brave enough to sit in the red chair.

The Graham Norton Show, Friday 5 November at 10.35pm on ´óÏó´«Ã½ One.
