Journalist Ian McGarry presents The Real Wayne Rooney on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 5 Live, delving into the life of the Manchester United and England striker, tracing his journey from humble beginnings in Liverpool to worldwide stardom – looking at what made him the man he is.
Speaking with some of the most influential and pivotal figures in his career, along with friends and team-mates, The Real Wayne Rooney looks at his upbringing in Croxteth, Liverpool, how he was first scouted, his time at boyhood club, Everton, and his career today.
Contributors include England team-mate Frank Lampard; the Everton scout who first discovered Rooney, Bob Pendleton; the man who signed him for Everton, Walter Smith; former Liverpool politician and Everton fanatic, Derek Hatton; and Ultimate Fighting Club cage fighter and Croxteth resident, Paul Kelly.
