In celebration of the approaching 20th anniversary of Primal Scream's landmark album Screamadelica, digital radio station ´óÏó´«Ã½ 6 Music is set to exclusively broadcast the band's first ever performance of the album, in it's entirety, live from London's Olympia on Friday 26 November. Presented by Steve Lamacq, the live gig will air between 9-11pm.
As well as giving listeners a chance hear the concert on air, 6 Music is also offering them the opportunity to attend the sold out gig. To enter the ticket giveaway listeners can go to the for full details. The ticket giveaway is open now until 12pm on Monday 22 November.
In anticipation of this extraordinary event, 6 Music presents a series of programmes that take a closer look at the album and the people involved in its creation.
Starting on Sunday 21 November, The First Time with Creation Records boss Alan McGee (12-1pm) explores his first experiences in music and involvement in the conception of this seminal album.
Later that day, album producer Andrew Weatherall presents a 6 Mix Screamadelica special (8-10pm), playing the tunes that influenced him and Primal Scream lead singer Bobby Gillespie during the making of the album.
On Friday 26 November, Steve Lamacq introduces Essential Albums Of The Nineties. Noel Gallagher, Alan McGee, the Manic Street Preachers and other key musical figures of the last 20 years talk to Steve about the enduring presence of Primal Scream's 1991 album and how it influenced them.
