The shortlist for ´óÏó´«Ã½ Cymru Wales Sports Personality of the Year 2010 has today, Monday 29 November, been announced on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Wales' Good Morning Wales and the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Cymru Post Cyntaf programme – with six contenders nominated for the prestigious award.
The nominees are Gareth Bale, Jazz Carlin, Nathan Cleverly, Dai Greene, Becky James and Robert Weale.
The title will be decided by viewers' votes with the winner announced on Radio Wales on the evening of Monday 6 December, from the awards ceremony at the 2010 Ryder Cup Clubhouse at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport.

During the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Cymru Wales Sports Personality of the Year 2010 ceremony, the winners of the team of the year for 2010 along with the Carwyn James Award for the Junior Sports Personalities and the Unsung Hero award will be revealed. There will also be a presentation of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Cymru Wales Lifetime Achievement Award.
Gareth Bale: Gareth has had a standout season for Premiership club Tottenham Hotspur, and has also continued playing for Wales. Gareth Bale is regarded as one of the best footballers in the world today.
Jazz Carlin: Jazz won the silver 200 metres freestyle medal at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in October – the first Welsh swimming medal for 36 years. She went on to win bronze in the 400 metres freestyle event. Earlier in the year she was a member of the GB bronze medal 4 x 200m freestyle relay team alongside Rebecca Adlington at the European Championships in Budapest.
Nathan Cleverly: Nathan is the British and European light-heavyweight champion and he will be fighting for an Interim World Title later in December.
Dai Greene: The 400 metres hurdles gold medal winner at the European Championships and also the 400 metres hurdles gold medal winner at the Commonwealth Games.
Becky James: Cyclist Becky took silver at the Commonwealth Games in October and also took bronze in the Sprint 500 metres cycling time-trial.
Robert Weale: Commonwealth Games bowls gold medal winner, adding to the bronze and silver medals he had previously won in past Commonwealth Games.
The winner of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Cymru Wales Sport Unsung Hero will go forward to the national ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sports Personality of the Year 2010 awards held at the LG Arena in Birmingham on Sunday 19 December, where the overall UK winner will be chosen.
