´óÏó´«Ã½ Daytime focuses on consumer affairs programmes for 2011

´óÏó´«Ã½ One Daytime is spearheading a raft of new programmes tackling consumer issues across the UK throughout 2011.

Britain's Killer Roads, Tricks Of The Tradesmen, You've Been Scammed and The Food Fighters will all be airing this year as part of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Daytime's ongoing commitment to bring issues of the moment to daytime television audiences.

The titles were all commissioned by Liam Keelan, Controller of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Daytime.

He says: "Over the last year ´óÏó´«Ã½ Daytime has increased its current, social and consumer affairs output by around 140 per cent and these four new titles continue our commitment to bringing viewers even more consumer programmes over the next 12 months.

"The new series will cover a wide range of topical issues from dangerous roads to food safety and I'm delighted to have commissioned them."

Britain's Killer Roads

Over 2,000 people died on Britain's roads in 2009 – our biggest cause of early death – and half of all fatal collisions occur on just one-tenth of Britain's roads.

Britain's Killer Roads will look at how simple changes like better road markings or installing crash barriers can save hundreds of lives. It will join forces with people who are campaigning for changes to roads in their area and will work with the authorities to drastically improve safety on five of Britain's most dangerous roads.

The series will also look at how we as drivers can take responsibility for avoiding accidents, exploring driver behaviour and car safety.

Britain's Killer Roads (5x45') is being produced by Reef Television and the executive producer is Richard Farmbrough. The executive producer for the ´óÏó´«Ã½ is Jacqueline Hewer. The series is due for TX in autumn 2011.

You've Been Scammed

Fraud is one of the fastest-growing crimes in Britain today, costing the public a massive £30bn every year. The series focuses on scams that are currently targetting us all and fleecing us of our hard-earned cash.

You've Been Scammed will follow trading standards officers as they break the news to often unsuspecting victims that they have been the target of a scam and reveal exactly how they've been taken for a ride.

Each programme aims to alert viewers to the particular type of scam they themselves could fall victim to, revealing how fraudsters target specific social groups. The series will show that everyone is a potential victim and reveal just how clever the criminals can be in gaining our confidence.

It will also offer advice on how to spot a scam and will alert viewers to current scams that are out on the streets and in our email inboxes.

You've Been Scammed is a 10x45' Flame Television production, executive produced by Matthew Gordon and Barbara Altounyan for Flame. Jacqueline Hewer is the executive producer for ´óÏó´«Ã½ Daytime. The series is due for TX in autumn 2011.

Dirty Tricks Of The Tradesmen

´óÏó´«Ã½ Daytime will be lifting the lid on the worst Dirty Tricks Of The Tradesmen – the terrible builders, bad plumbers, rubbish electricians, dire handymen, ghastly glaziers, contemptible carpet fitters, dodgy gardeners and pesky pest control.

Dirty Tricks Of The Tradesmen will show viewers what to look out for and how to spot when they are about to be ripped off in their own home, as members of the public secretly set up a member of their household.

The first step is for our experts to go in and create the problem: wet the dampspot, short the electrics, lay the rat droppings, block the toilet. They create the leaks, cracks and holes. Once the problem has been discovered the target will "contact" our dodgy contractors, who obviously come highly recommended, and were luckily leafleting in the area only the day before. Time for the Dirty Tricks Of The Tradesmen to begin.

Dirty Tricks Of The Tradesmen is a co-production from Objective Productions and Crook Productions (15x45'). The executive producer for the ´óÏó´«Ã½ is Lindsay Bradbury. The executive producer for Objective Productions/Crook Productions is Matt Crook. The series is due for TX in autumn 2011.

The Food Fighters

As a nation we've never been more obsessed with what we eat – but do we really know the secrets of what we're putting in our mouths?

From dodgy takeaways and revolting restaurants, to out-of-date foods and the newly created Food Fraud Squad, thankfully there's an army of inspectors working behind the scenes to make sure that the food we eat is safe.

Simon Rimmer (Something For The Weekend) returns as presenter of this new series of The Food Fighters – a fast-moving, occasionally stomach-churning series following the work of the people policing Britain's food chain.

Keeping Britain's food safe is the work on a range of different organisations. The Food Fighters follows the work of these organisations from environment health inspectors to the Food Standards Agency, delivering gritty actuality and surprising insights into the policing of the food chain.

Some of the biggest food scares of recent years will also be analysed to understand why they happened and to ask what measures are in place to ensure that similar events do not occur again in the future.

The Food Fighters is the second series of the 10x45' production made by True North for ´óÏó´«Ã½ Daytime. Andrew Sheldon is the executive producer for True North and Jacqueline Hewer is the executive producer for the ´óÏó´«Ã½. The series is due for TX in June 2011.
