Lady Gaga to headline Sunday at Radio 1's Big Weekend 2011

Lady Gaga, Foo Fighters, The Black Eyed Peas, Bruno Mars, Tinie Tempah, Plan B, The Script, Chase & Status, Jessie J and many more confirmed to perform at this year's event

´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 1 announce that Lady Gaga will headline the Main Stage of Radio 1's Big Weekend in Carlisle on Sunday 15 May.

Lady Gaga said: "I'm so excited to be coming to Radio 1's Big Weekend in Carlisle. I've been planning and rehearsing for so many months now and, after two years of working on my new album, I'll get to do a great big performance in the UK. I'm mostly excited for Radio 1's Big Weekend because I can't wait to see all of the monsters in the UK. Expect a monster avant-garde pop fantasia.

"This event is so important to me because Radio 1 was one of the first stations to really support my artistry and my music and I get to come back and enjoy this moment with all of you. Thank you so much for all of your love and support and for always believing in me as an artist. I can't wait to see you. Paws up Radio 1."

The news was announced by Greg James during Fearne Cotton's Radio 1 show this morning. Earlier today the location of this year's event along with the rest of the line-up was revealed by Scott Mills (currently deputising for Chris Moyles) as he broadcast his Radio 1 show live from Trinity School in Carlisle. He was joined by British singer Katy B who performed in front of the school's pupils.
