´óÏó´«Ã½ One has announced the commissioning of a non-transmission pilot of Cloned, a thrilling new gameshow created by the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Future Formats team.
Cloned sees a team of four contestants try to outwit celebrity clones in a series of funny and fiendish challenges. If the team can outsmart the imposters and beat the clones, they'll win a cash prize. But in this world of multiplicity, who is real and who is fake?
The show is the brainchild of George Hutton, a former English teacher in Spain, who joined the ´óÏó´«Ã½ last year as part of Future Formats and now works in Format Development for ´óÏó´«Ã½ Entertainment.
Future Formats is a ´óÏó´«Ã½ Entertainment and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Worldwide initiative which sees a group of eight people new to television build new skills in creating, developing and pitching innovative entertainment formats.
Cloned will be produced using a mixture of innovative green screen and post-production techniques to clone its celebrity guests and create the challenges.
Katie Taylor, Head of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Entertainment & Events, said: "Cloned is a genuinely innovative new show that originated through our Future Formats scheme. ´óÏó´«Ã½ Entertainment has found a great new way of getting the most out of our talent. Because we're going to Clone them!"
Karl Warner, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Executive Editor Entertainment Commissioning, added: "Cloned is an exciting new format which pushes the boundaries of production and game show mechanics. I'm delighted it was originated by a young talent base within the ´óÏó´«Ã½ and think George will be one to watch for the future."
Kate Phillips, Head of Future Formats, added: "I'm so pleased that ´óÏó´«Ã½ Entertainment's first Future Formats has resulted in this pilot. Nearly all the students are now working as development researchers both in and outside the ´óÏó´«Ã½ and these successes are down to the all their hard work and creativity over the past few months."
Cloned is a ´óÏó´«Ã½ Entertainment production. It will be produced by Nick Johns and executive produced by creative director of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Entertainment & Events Derek McLean for the ´óÏó´«Ã½.
Future Formats is an annual initiative and just one of a number of initiatives the ´óÏó´«Ã½ is involved in to nurture and develop new talent, including Comedy College and The Writers' Room.
