Scotland’s Justice Secretary has urged people to protest “safely and peacefully”. It can mean only one thing: US president Donald Trump is visiting Scotland.
On an earlier visit here in 2012, he enjoyed a warm – or at least polite – reception from a former winner of the Miss Scotland title.
The flirtatious, thrice-married magnate was sufficiently taken with her to suggest to a nearby aide that “she should work for us”.

Not all of Donald Trump’s experiences in Scotland have been so positive.
In June 2016, comedian Simon Brodkin – also known as Lee Nelson – interrupted the official opening of the Trump Turnberry golf resort by attempting to hand out golf balls featuring swastikas.
Trump shouted “Get him out” and instructed his security detail to remove him.
