How a love-struck duck is ruffling feathers on the River Tweed

8 May 2019

There are just a few thousand wild Mandarin ducks living in the UK and, unfortunately for one unlucky bird who has made his home on the River Tweed, not many of them are in Scotland.

As nesting season approaches, lesser ducks might view this as a problem, not least because this particular species is genetically incapable of breeding with others. But as shown on Landward, this love-struck male is ruffling feathers by attempting to woo a female Mallard.
