Eligibility

1. The 大象传媒 is the organiser of this talent search.

1a. Entrants must be aged 18 or over at the closing date of Monday 27th January 2025.

1.b The talent search is not open to employees, agents or contractors of the 大象传媒 or any of its subsidiaries, their immediate families or any other person connected or involved with the talent search.

1.c. To enter this talent search you must live in Scotland at the time of launch Friday 10th January 2025.

1.d. To enter the talent search you must have the right to live and/or work in the United Kingdom (including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man). Overseas entries will not be considered.

2. The aim of this talent search is to discover Scotland’s next exciting musical act from a shortlist spanning many genres.

3. To help the judges understand more of your current position, if you are shortlisted you will be asked about the support you already have, if any, and if you have an established team around you. Do you have one of the following and if so, who are they;

a. Radio Plugger
b. Manager
c. Label
d. Distributor
e. Publisher

If you have one or more of the above this will not necessarily affect your eligibility. However, we need this information to properly consider your entry.

You must inform the 大象传媒 production team if you are a member of any professional/talent union or association, such as Musicians Union, Equity, or are represented by an agent or talent organisation. This will not affect your application or participation in the competition.

4. The competition is only open to artists who fulfil all of the following requirements:

  • You must deliver original material
  • The entry must be your original composition and must not contain uncleared samples
  • The entry must not be a cover version or a remix of a commercially available song
  • The entrant must be a solo performer, a duo or a group
  • Must have the ability to perform to an audience either in person on remotely
  • Entrants must be aged 18 or over by the closing date of the award – Monday 27th January 2025.

How to enter

5. The talent search opens at 20:00 on Friday 10th January 2025 Entries received before this date will not be considered.

6. The closing time for entries is on 20:00 on Monday 27th January 2025. Submissions received after this time will not be considered.

7. To enter, you must upload an original composition to the 大象传媒 Introducing Uploader. Your original composition should be with you as the lead composer, either as an individual or as part of a group. If composed as part of a group, all relevant members of the group must give their consent for the original composition to be used for the purposes of this talent search.

8. It’s important to note that when uploading the track you will need to tag your original composition ‘Scotland 2025’ in the Introducing Uploader. Tracks will only be considered if they are tagged as ‘Scotland 2025’ using the tag functionality during the dates above. If you have already uploaded to Introducing, you can tag an existing track with ‘Scotland 2025’. Note: this tag functionality won't be available until the submission window opens.

9. Only one entry per artist is permitted. If you submit more than one entry we reserve the right to disregard all of your entries. Entrants should keep a copy as no entries will be returned.

10. Entries must not contain any defamatory, offensive or any other unsuitable language or material. Entries must be suitable to be broadcast by the 大象传媒 according to its guidelines.

11. Unsuccessful candidates may not be contacted to inform them that they were unsuccessful.

12. Entries will be judged through the following process:

a. Originality
b. Melody and/or Lyrics
c. Composition
d. Connection with their audience

13 Judging and Shortlisting Process

The musical entries from artists will be judged through the following process:

A panel from 大象传媒 Radio Scotland and 大象传媒 Music Introducing will review all valid entries submitted, who will then curate a longlist of 20 artists against the specific criteria as addressed above. The 20 longlist entries will then be sent to a panel of judges who will shortlist against specific criteria to 8 semi-finalists. The 8 shortlisted candidates will be agreed by judges by Friday 14th February 2025. All 8 semi-finalists will be notified by Monday 11th March 2025. The panel of judges will them meet to discuss the 8 semi-finalists and choose their top 4 finalists.

14. If you are selected as one of the 4 finalists you will be asked to provide a short performance clip. This will be used as online content and content for the final Television programme.

15. The final 4 will be contacted from Friday 21st March 2025. You will not be contacted if you don’t make it into the final 4. The winner will be decided by the judging panel and 大象传媒 Radio Scotland/大象传媒 Music Introducing. This will be announced at an audience event in Glasgow on Tuesday 25th March 2025.

16. The winner will be required to answer a number of questions including confirmation that they are available for the dates required to either pre-record a 大象传媒 Introducing in Scotland session or perform a live broadcast. If you are unable to attend this event date please do not submit an entry to the talent search.

17. If the selected winning artist cannot be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made or is not available on the required days for performing, the 大象传媒 reserves the right to select an alternative entrant to be the winner.

18. A selection of entrants may also be interviewed by the 大象传媒 as part of the event promotion. Please note, if you are one of the top 8 shortlisted artists, you may be contacted by various members of the industry, it is important to do your research before signing up to anything. The 大象传媒 will not be responsible for your actions during or after the experience. Duty of care during this process is extremely important to the 大象传媒 and we have a plan in place to support the artists throughout.

The Winner

19. The winner will receive an opportunity to record two sessions for 大象传媒 Introducing in Scotland. One shortly after the final and one a year on/within the next year to document progress. They will also receive a much coveted spot on the River Stage of TRNSMT 2025 and a bespoke PR campaign. There is no cash alternative and the prize cannot be deferred or transferred in any circumstances. The 大象传媒 is not responsible for any element or change to the prize that is outside of its control. The winner will also receive a trophy.

20. The 大象传媒 will endeavour to record the performance at Pacific Quay, Glasgow, However, the 大象传媒 reserves the right to change location of the recording for any reason deemed necessary in its sole discretion including for Health & Safety reasons or in order to follow COVID-19 guidelines. If required, the 大象传媒 will arrange and pay for reasonable travel and accommodation of the winner.

21. The winner may be asked to do promotion on 大象传媒 Radio Scotland and other 大象传媒 radio stations, the wider 大象传媒 channels and social media promotion.

22. The winner will be paid standard 大象传媒/Musician Union fees for any future 大象传媒 Introducing sessions and performances with the 大象传媒 for broadcast.

23. The 大象传媒 Introducing session may be shared across 大象传媒 channels post broadcast to promote the talent search event.

General

24. The 大象传媒 has a policy of inclusion and it’s important this Talent Search is accessible to all. If you are shortlisted our aim is to be as inclusive as possible. If you are shortlisted, please inform us of anything which may require reasonable adjustments to enable you to take part - this could include any disability or access requirements.

25. Entrants irrevocably and in perpetuity grant all consents and waive all rights necessary for the 大象传媒 to film and record your contribution and to use recordings featuring the track and your image and/or voice and to exploit the same in any and all media now known or in future invented throughout the world in perpetuity without further liability to you.

26. In respect of the 大象传媒’s filming and recording of your contribution, you hereby with full title guarantee irrevocably assign to the 大象传媒 all rights in your contribution for the 大象传媒 to use it throughout the universe in all languages in perpetuity.

27. Entrants retain all rights in their entries but grant to the 大象传媒 a non-exclusive royalty free licence to broadcast their entry across all media (including use in all media now known or which may hereafter become known) including use on any online platforms. Any visual recordings provided for the shortlisting stage should be subject to the same licence conditions.

28. Entrants warrant that they have obtained all rights necessary to grant the 大象传媒 the licence, and that their entry does not infringe the rights of any other party. The 大象传媒 accepts no liability if entrants ignore these rules and entrants agree to fully indemnify the 大象传媒 against any claims by any third party arising from any breach of these rules. The 大象传媒 reserves the right to contact entrants to verify this.

29. Entrants permit the 大象传媒 to edit or change entries in any way it may in its sole discretion consider necessary for the purposes of use in the talent search and the uses set out in clause 27 and 28 above.

30. By entering the talent search, entrants warrant that they have the legal capacity to enter the talent search and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

31.The 大象传媒 aims always to be inclusive to do so we require some information so that we can assess how best to support you throughout the process. Therefore:

  • The eight shortlisted entrants will be subject to a DSB check.
  • Entrants must not be subject to any legal proceedings (whether criminal or civil) in any part of the world and must inform the 大象传媒 immediately and in writing if you become aware of any such potential or actual legal proceedings.
  • The 大象传媒 has a duty of care to all those who take part in its content and also to uphold its reputation and editorial standards. Entrants should be aware that any incident/s from their history that may reasonably cause significant negative press or publicity should be disclosed so that the 大象传媒 can assess appropriate steps. The eight shortlisted entrants agree to let the 大象传媒 carry out background checks on social media and to let them know immediately if they are or become aware of anything that might in the 大象传媒’s opinion jeopardise or otherwise impact negatively on themselves, 大象传媒 Radio Scotland or the 大象传媒.

  • 32. The 大象传媒’s Privacy Notice and the 大象传媒’s applies to all entries in this talent search. For the avoidance of doubt, for the purposes of the Terms of Use entries to the talent search are not considered a creation.

33. To the extent there is any inconsistency between the 大象传媒 Terms of Use and these Terms and Conditions, these Terms and Conditions shall take precedence.

34.You are reminded that your participation in this 大象传媒 talent search (including the successful candidates) cannot be used in commercial advertising or promotions, to attract external funding, to lobby or campaign, or to attract donations.

35. The 大象传媒’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

36. The 大象传媒 reserves the right to disqualify any entry which breaches any of these Terms and Conditions, who has acted fraudulently in any way, or who (in the 大象传媒’s sole discretion) brings or could bring the 大象传媒 into disrepute.

37. The 大象传媒 reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions or cancel this talent search at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside its control. In this event, a notice will be posted on the 大象传媒 Radio Scotland website at

38. The 大象传媒 does not accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any server, Internet access system, programme software or otherwise which may result in any entry being late or not being properly registered or recorded. Late, incomplete, illegible or inaudible entries will be disqualified.

39. To the extent permitted by law, the 大象传媒 will not be liable for any loss or damage (whether such damage or losses were foreseen, foreseeable, known or otherwise) including financial, reputational loss or disappointment.

40. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

2. This privacy notice describes how we collect and use personal information about you during and after your relationship with us, in accordance with data protection law.

What information we will collect and our lawful basis

4. The 大象传媒 will process the personal information that you provide to us when you submit an application, including your name, email address, telephone number, social media handle, and your audio/ visual submission.

5. We have a legitimate interest in this information: to increase audience interaction with the 大象传媒 and ensure that we can consider your application and deliver our talent search. We will not process your personal information where your rights override our interests.

6. The 大象传媒 will also verify the winner’s right to work and live in the UK at which point we have a legal obligation to do so.

7. The 大象传媒 is the controller of your personal information. This means that the 大象传媒 decides how your personal data is collected and processed.
