50 years ago today Apollo 11 took off for the moon. It was a journey of 380,000 km and took 76 hours. How much faster was the average speed than Concorde’s cruise speed of 2300km/hr?

The average speed was 380,000/76 = 5000 km/hr. This is 5000/2300 i.e. ~2.2 times faster than Concorde. (Extra piece of information for those who look at the website answer) You might also like to know that the maximum speed of Apollo 11 was about 40,000km/hr on its return journey which is over 17 times faster than Concorde!
