On the programme on 14 January 2024, legal expert Gary Rycroft gave viewers important advice when making a car insurance claim caused by potholes.

Tips for making a successful claim:

• Prove that your car has been damaged. Take photos of the damage.

• Provide evidence of a pothole where the incident occurred. Take photos of the pothole.

• Demonstrate that the responsible party (often the local authority) was negligent in its duty to maintain the quality of the road. This could be determined by finding out what date the road was last inspected by the relevant council.
