Young Fathers
Young Fathers are a genre-blending trio from Edinburgh, whose music deftly manoeuvres between hip-hop, alt-rock, post-punk and soul. 2023 saw the release of their fourth LP, Heavy Heavy. The album was nominated for the Mercury Prize, which they previously won in 2014 for their debut album Dead. The lead single from the album, released in 2022, was their first new music in four years, but they came back with a bang, and a series of unbelievable live performances, including a dynamic set on Glastonbury's West Holts stage. At 6 Music Festival 2024, they will be performing a unique collaboration with the Hulme and Moss Side based NIA community choir.
Hak Baker
Hak Baker is a singer-songwriter from East London who has won the hearts of his fans with his warm, conversational songs and made a name for himself as a brilliant live performer. His charming tracks traverse genres - he has coined his own genre to describe his music, 'G-Folk' - with hip-hop, folk rock and a bit of soul all mixed together with his trademark Cockney accent. His debut album Worlds End FM was released in 2023, a year which also saw him playing an acoustic set for Glastonbury's TV coverage.

Gossip
This American indie rock band have returned in 2024 with their first new music in a very long time. Their forthcoming album Real Power is due for release in March, 12 years after their previous album A Joyful Noise. The band formed in 1999 in Washington (although all three of the original members hailed from Searcy, Arkansas), and they rose to fame with 'Standing In The Way Of Control', their well-known track and album of the same name, in 2006. The band split up in 2016 and reunited again in 2019 for an anniversary tour, but they were yet to release new music, until now. At 6 Music Festival 2024, they will be performing their first UK show in four years on International Women's Day, Friday 8 March, giving 6 Music fans the global premiere of unreleased material.
CMAT
Dublin's CMAT (Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson) has been garnering more and more excitement since she started releasing music in 2020. Her debut album, released in 2022, received a great critical response, but it was her 2023 follow-up, Crazymad, For Me, which really put her on the map. Her brand of Americana-infused country-pop and infectious energy has caught the eyes and ears of the music industry, and she is widely agreed to be fantastic live.
Saturday 9 March
The Smile
This alt-rock supergroup made their debut in a surprise performance streamed by Glastonbury Festival in 2021. The band, formed in 2020, is made up of Radiohead members Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, and Sons of Kemet's Tom Skinner, after Greenwood and Skinner met years earlier working on the soundtrack to the 2012 film The Master. Their first album A Light For Attracting Attention, released in May 2022, made quite a stir, and their highly-anticipated second album Wall of Eyes is due for release at the end of January. At 6 Music Festival 2024, they will give a world exclusive performance with the London Contemporary Orchestra.
Jordan Rakei
Jordan Rakei is a multi-instrumentalist and producer from New Zealand. His lo-fi, soothing tracks have led him to work with artists like FKJ, Tom Misch, Loyle Carner and Disclosure. He previously performed at 6 Music Festival in Camden in 2020, and since then he has continued to make his blissful R&B, releasing his latest album What We Call Life in autumn 2021. He has recently returned with a new single 'Flowers', which is about the moment when he first met his wife.
