This apparent display of the Scots’ naturally sociable, gregarious nature on a late-night railway platform captured the imagination of many.

But one Twitter user wondered if this was actually just a group of luxury tourists on a stop as part of their Scottish scenic train tour aboard .

Fellow Twitter user : “The Royal Scotsman train stops regularly for a ceilidh at Dundee station.”

Indeed, the travel company behind The Royal Scotsman , at the end of one of its tours, “you may feel inspired by our musicians to participate in some lively Scottish country dancing on the station platform.”

Carrie Fisher danced it up with the rest of them

Tickets for such tours can cost tourists thousands of pounds. After a good meal in the dining car, some with whisky in their bellies, the Scotophiles dance the Dashing White Sergeant and the Gay Gordons on the platform accompanied by traditional musicians.

Those that have had this spirited experience include the late Carrie Fisher, who danced it up with the rest of them when she took the trip with her dog, Gary, in 2015.

These platform performers may have been international luxury travellers, but they were still geeing it laldy.
