NHS: 70 Years, 70 Voices
Swindon is credited with being the birthplace of the NHS when the GWR Medical Fund Hospital was set up in 1871 for railway workers in the town.

That blueprint was adopted after the second World War and in 1948 the National Health Service was launched, promising to provide healthcare that was comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery.
大象传媒 Wiltshire is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the NHS by gathering stories from 70 people who are sharing their most memorable experiences of working for the health service. We're running the series for 70 days on our Breakfast shows and online until the actual anniversary on Thursday 5 July.
The stories will also be included in an archive project called which is being led by the University of Manchester and funded by the Heritage Lottery.
