大象传媒 Radio Merseyside's Voice of Eurovision

We have an exciting opportunity for a Eurovision enthusiast to join the broadcasting team at 大象传媒 Radio Merseyside to support local coverage of the 2023 music competition which is being hosted in Liverpool.
We are looking for someone who can join our broadcast team at 大象传媒 Radio Merseyside and help us to offer a locally charged, scouse alternative commentary on the night of the Eurovision Grand Final. The commentary will be delivered until the interval act not during the voting.
You don’t need any prior experience of broadcasting or radio. What we are looking for is your passion for Eurovision and your love and pride of Liverpool and Merseyside.
If selected, you will be asked to attend production briefings on Thursday 11 May, Friday 12 May and Saturday 13 May 2023, these dates are essential for a successful audition.
This is an opportunity in line with standard presenter fees for 大象传媒 Radio Merseyside. You will be provided with training, coaching and support for the broadcast from 大象传媒 Radio Merseyside.
All audition entrants must be 18 or over before the closing date (Sunday 12 March at 22:00). .
Your audition
We'll be asking for your name, email address, telephone number, 200 words telling us why you should be selected for this opportunity and you’ll have up to 40 seconds to give your own commentary introduction to one of the following previous Eurovision acts.
Your recording should end with the following line:
“Please be aware that the performance you’re about to watch contains strobe lighting and the voting lines will only be open after the final performance.”

How it will work
Auditions: Round One
Your uploaded submission will be reviewed by a panel of 大象传媒 judges.
Each judge will mark the entry "Yes" or "No". Three "Yesses" mean you're through to Round Two.
You’ll be judged on your authentic voice and passion for Eurovision and Liverpool.
Judges will only listen to and consider the first 40 seconds of your uploaded material.
You are not judged on the quality of your audio and no prior experience is necessary.
Auditions: Round Two
The team at your local 大象传媒 radio station will review your audition and may discuss your audition with you further through workshops (online or in person).
A final judging panel will then decide who is 大象传媒 Radio Merseyside’s Voice of Eurovision.
We are not concerned with the quality of the recording, it's your voice we're interested in and judges will only listen to and consider the first 40 seconds of your uploaded audio, so make it count.
What the judges are looking for
The auditions will be scored on key factors:
- Evidence of passion for and connection with Merseyside, Liverpool or Ukraine
- Sound of voice and evidence of personality
- Suitability to be part of a team delivering a Eurovision commentary described as Scouse.
If you are selected, you will be asked to join the production team on Thursday 11 May. Friday 12 May and Saturday 13 May 2023. Travel to various 大象传媒 offices maybe required and reasonable travel expenses will be supported by the 大象传媒. Please note, if you are unable to attend these dates we are unlikely to continue with your audition.

大象传媒 Radio Merseyside are offering information and practical held for people wanting to audition at various locations across Merseyside. Join us on the following dates:
- 6 – 10 February: The Strand Shopping Centre, Bootle, Sefton
- 13 – 17 February: Pyramids Shopping Centre, Birkenhead, Wirral
- Saturday 18 February: Greatie Market, Liverpool
- 20 - 24 February: Church Square, St Helens
- 27 February – 3 March: Kirkby Shopping Centre, Knowsley
- Saturday 4 March: Granby Street Market, Toxteth Liverpool
